On April 2, 2010 at the world premiere of “Beautiful Darling – The Life and Times of Candy Darling, Andy Warhol Superstar,” (which was really awesome, by the way), I met industrial music legend Genesis P-Orridge. Genesis P-Orridge has been in the bands Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. If you’ve ever tripped on shrooms, P-Orridge’s music has no doubt been the soundtrack to a great mind-bending experience. In the 1990s, P-Orridge began a collaboration with the performance artist Lady Jaye Breyer in which they applied the strategy of cutting-up to their own bodies, in an effort to merge their two identities, through plastic surgery, hormone therapy, cross-dressing and altered behavior, into a single, pandrogynous character, BREYER P-ORRIDGE. Thanks for being so cool Genesis!
