Savoir Adore

On April 24, 2010, Brooklyn based group Savoir Adore opened for Adam Green at the Bowery Ballroom.  Singers Deirdre Muro and Paul Hammer share vocal responsibilities and their music infuses folk, rock and electro pop. As I read on a website about them, their sound is as fluorescent as their album cover. I was instantly hooked from the opening song, which was a cover of “I Put A Spell On You,” so clearly that works well as suggestive selling for an intro to the band.  You can check them out for yourselves by clicking on the above link for their official website, which will also grant you access to 3 free mp3s from “In The Wooded Forest,” while supplies last.  After the set was over, I asked Paul Hammer to see the set list so I could share it with you and I am happy to announce that Savoir Adore has gone green!  They used their I-phones instead of paper, and I have to say, of all the bands I’ve seen, Savoir Adore is trailblazing for rockin’ and helping the environment.

The Dead Trees!

On April 24, 2010 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, The Dead Trees  opened for Adam Green.  Actually, they opened for Adam Green, took a short break and then returned to be his backing band for Adam’s set!  I enjoyed their music, which is a little bit indie, alt-country and a little bit rock and roll.  When they announced they were from Los Angeles, my former city, I liked them even more.  The band is trying to raise money to make their first LP (which I know will be awesome), so please click here to help make this dream a reality for The Dead Trees.  To help you decide whether or not to fork over your hard earned cash, you can download a free mp3 of their song “Shelter” from our friends at RCRD LBL.

G Meets Singer/Artist Adam Green

Adam Green and G.

As I told you in a previous post, I saw Adam Green in concert on April 24, 2010 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York.  Several songs into his electrifying set, he leaned in and kissed me in the middle of the show!  I hope it was as good for him as it was for me.  When I met him backstage after the show, he’d had a lot more to drink by then and it appeared that he was suppressing his man crush for me.  Either way, he was super cool and I got to chat with him for a few minutes about his recent art show at the Morrison Hotel Gallery.  Due to popular demand, the show has been extended for another week, so head on down there to see it.  It’s really cool!  Thanks again Adam for the picture, the great concert and the awesome art show.  If you ever want to switch teams, you know my address!

Adam Green

On April 24, 2010, sometimes singer of Moldy Peaches and fabulous artist, Adam Green performed at the Bowery Ballroom in New York and set the place on fire!  Backed by the band The Dead Trees (who were also one of two opening acts – and more on them coming soon), Adam Green had so much charisma on stage, it was definitely a night to remember.  The banner behind the stage said “Justin Bieber Live,” which was also pretty cool.  He covered every square foot of the stage, dancing around, playing guitar, ripping off his shirt with the aid of an audience member and he jumped into the crowd multiple times. He had a fair amount to drink, but was able to pull off the show like a pro.  I’ve had a lot of wacky concert experiences, but what I am about to tell you probably takes the cake. Picture it:  I was standing in the front row (not a shock, I know) entranced, watching Adam’s great stage presence (which was a cross between Jim Morrison and Freddie Mercury!)  Though Adam Green is heterosexual (from what I’ve read on the net), during the 3rd or 4th song, he leaned in towards me and kissed me!  The moment happened really quickly, but I definitely saw people flashing pictures during that moment, so if you’ve got one of those pictures, please hit me up!  Apparently, Adam is getting divorced, so if you are out there Adam – I’m single, but I won’t be for long, so here’s your chance.  🙂 Finally, great news about his art show:  due to popular demand, the Morrison Hotel Gallery has extended the run for another week, so I highly recommend that you see it.  I met Adam backstage after the show and I’ll be posting that story very soon, so stay tuned.
