New York! Save the date – October 12, 2011. Ari Lankin’s latest solo show “Windows of Self” will be celebrating its opening night from 6 – 8:30 pm at RL Fine Arts located at 39 West 19 Street Suite 612 (between 5 and 6 avenues). I’ve been fortunate to tour Ari’s studio and he’s incredibly talented and prolific! He does it all from realism to abstract painting and he has made a name for himself from his infamous “on location” paintings. You can preview more of his works on Ari Lankin’s official website. Don’t miss “Windows of Self.” See you there!
This has been a banner week for me appearing in viral videos! First, I appeared with artist Olek on Polish TV, then I was informed I was in a LaRoux live video. Hat tip to The Worley Gig for letting me know that both Gail and myself appear many times in the first 2 minutes of a video showcasing the opening night of the Suckadelic art exhibit (which was amazing, by the way). Take my word for it, you’re an asshole if you don’t watch this video.
On June 22, 2010, I met one of my favorite actors – the tremendously talented and extremely good looking James Franco! The night started off on a down note as I headed downtown to attend the opening for James Franco’s debut art exhibition, “Dangerous Book Four Boys.” The bad news was I RSVP’d to the event after the deadline had passed and the opening was booked to capacity. I tried explaining how fabulous and busy I am to have missed the cutoff, but it was not meant to be. I left my business card at the door, so please feel free to peruse the site and then you’ll understand how I could have missed replying to such an important email! Since I was already down at the event, I figured I might as well catch a glimpse of the star of the evening, so I waited just a few moments, and voila – James Franco arrived.
He was extremely nice and I had to slap my face a few times to avoid passing out from his gorgeousness. When I asked to take a photo with him, he happily obliged and I congratulated him on his latest accomplishment. He said thanks and headed into the event. I’m planning on heading back to check out his art, so stay tuned for a full report. Thanks again James for making totally awesome movies and for our encounter which I won’t be forgetting any time soon!
