I saw this gorgeous mural of Audrey Hepburn by Free Humanity on Sunset Blvd. on a recent trip to Los Angeles. LOVE IT and in case you didn’t know, the best thing to hold onto is each other.

On a recent trip to Los Angeles, I was driving down Sunset Blvd. when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted not one but two great pieces of art from Free Humanity at Rockpaper Coffee. Made a U-turn, and the rest is history!

Los Angeles! Save the date. On June 11, 2011 at the Corey Heford Gallery, a gala reception for Joshua Petker’s mini-exhibit entitled “Celluloid Constellations” will be taking place. Joshua Petker is paying tribute to Hollywood legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge, Veronica Lake and Fatty Arbuckle. As always with his paintings, you have to expect the unexpected as Joshua is notorious for subtlety infusing vivid colors that take his subjects into another dimension. Every time I look at his paintings, I find myself contemplating the back stories on the figures he’s painted. In this exhibit, we already know the back stories on the subjects or at least we think we do. When you examine these paintings, you’ll see a darker and more vulnerable side to these legendary beauties.
The Corey Helford Gallery is located at 8522 Washington Blvd. in Culver City. The mini-exhibit “Celluloid Constellations” by Joshua Petker will be on view from June 11 – June 30, 2011. The opening night reception is on June 11, 2011 at 6 PM, so I expect you to represent! Joshua is a very cool guy, so please say hello him on opening night. Tell him G sent ya!
For people that live outside of Los Angeles, I have a special treat – after the jump, see a few more images from “Celluloid Constellations” by Joshua Petker!

It’s songs like this that make singer Findlay Brown the coolest crooner of the new generation. Here’s a video of Findlay Brown performing “Moon River” (OH MY GOD!) from the Mercury Lounge in New York on November 3, 2010. Yes, this is the same “Moon River” by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer that Audrey Hepburn sang in “Breakfast at Tiffanys.” If you like his voice on this track, you’ll love all of his music. His 2nd album was produced by Bernard Butler of Suede, so you have to ask yourself, could it get any better? Doubtful!
Enjoy!

I photographed the above and below images on the walls of New York. I personally think Audrey Hepburn was one of the most gorgeous women of all time, so I am happy to see that she’s been immortalized in the world of street art.
