Two years ago, I fell in love with Seattle-based artist Michael Leavitt’s work.  In a show called “The Art Army Royalty” (See pictures here.  Link will open in new window), Leavitt’s sculptures of modern art world superstars perfectly captured the essence of each artist while transforming them into the style or work each artist is most famous for.  His latest exhibit “Empire Peaks” at Jonathan Levine Gallery finds Leavitt juxtaposing Star Wars characters with celebrities and historical figures.  Every single work in the exhibit is a stroke of genius.

As you can see, all of these works are brilliant.  You can enjoy them without being a Star Wars fan, but if you love Star Wars, you may find yourself squealing with delight as you peruse the exhibit.  What you cannot see from these photos is the extreme detail in each figure, so I urge you to see them in person.  You have until December 21, 2013, so do not delay!  The Jonathan Levine Gallery is located at 529 West 20th Street #9E in Manhattan.

President Barack Obama

Have you heard?  President of the United States Barack Obama was re-elected for a second term yesterday November 6, 2012.  If you know me in real life, you know I am ANTI-POLITICS (regardless of political affiliation) and I truly believe that the people have the power, but they don’t seem to realize it.   We’ve been programed and brainwashed by mainstream media into thinking that life is black or white (no pun intended).  We are forced to choose between Democrat and Republican and BOTH sides are controlled by the funding of corporations who are not looking out for the interests of the people, but instead ways to increase their bottom line – at ANY cost.  It’s very scary.  The “established system” set up in this country over 300 years ago hasn’t benefited the majority of the people for my entire life and it seems to get a little worse each day.  Geologically, when there are major cracks in the ground, eventually an eruption happens.  Politically, people seem to be more and more complacent and just accept whatever decisions are handed over to the people.

The Table Series Logo by Fumero

“The Table Series Logo” by Fumero is an icon!  First appearing on the streets of New York, the image can be seen on the streets all over the world and is featured inside the DVD packaging of Banksy’s Academy Award nominated documentary “Exit Through The Gift Shop.”  An exhibit of Fumero’s work is currently showing at the Art Bazaar located at 175 Seventh Avenue (at West 20th Street in New York and as you will see, Fumero is not just coasting on the success of “The Table Series Logo.” His canvases are extremely diverse and very colorful.  Fumero recently garnered a lot of buzz from his works at Art Basel Miami, which is known in the art world as “The Olympics of art.” Since the inception of the Art Bazaar, over 300 artists have exhibited works and the event has been written up by ArtSlant and the New York Times.

It’s hard to see the details and vivid colors Fumero uses from these pictures, so I urge you to check out the Art Bazaar at Lyons Weir Gallery in New York which runs until February 27, 2011. The Art Bazaar is located at 175 7th Avenue (at 20th Street) in New York.  Fumero’s art is very reasonably priced so you’d better snatch up these works for your collection while you still have the chance.

Hype

It’s hard to see from the photo, but the blinded Barack has a button on that says “Abolish The Fed.”  That’s some hype I’ll get behind!
