Moments after The Futureheads’ rocking set at the Bowery Ballroom in New York on June 8, 2010, I met the band. They were all extremely nice! 2010 is set to be a big year for the English rockers as their new album “The Chaos” is taking the music world by storm. I wish them all the best and I expect to see “The Chaos” on my year-end best albums list.

Barry Hyde of the Futureheads
On June 8, 2010, England’s The Futureheads played a sold out show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. Blog confession: When I arrived at the show, I had never heard one note of their music. I like their name, I liked the posters I saw around town and I had read that Pitchfork raved about their latest album “The Chaos” which was just released on June 1, 2010. The Futureheads did their job as rockstars by turning me into a fan! I loved what I heard and I had a great time. They’ve been releasing albums since 2003 and their music is punk. They got their name from a Flaming Lips album entitled “Hit To Death In The Future Head.” Every song was fast and upbeat and the civilized crowd loved every second. Absent from the show was pushing and shoving, drunken assholes trying to push their way to the front and myself getting crushed to death by standing in the front row! Hooray! Lead singer Barry Hyde had a sore throat, but instead of canceling, the show went on and he and his band mates rocked New York! They played a lot of stuff off their latest album, including the title track “The Chaos,” “Jupiter,” “Struck Dumb,” and “I Can Do That.” One of my favorites of the night was their cover of Kate Bush’s “Hounds Of Love.” I stopped by the merch table on the way out and got a copy of “The Chaos” and the band was kind enough to autograph it for me afterwards. All 4 members were extremely nice. Photos of my encounters with The Futureheads coming soon. If you are looking for a fun and fresh summer album with a nice edge, check out “The Chaos.”
