On April 7, 2013, The Fixx played the Bell House in Brooklyn.  The final encore was one of my favorite tracks from the 1980s, “Secret Separation.”  Towards the end of the song, lead singer Cy Curnin threw in a few lines from Tina Turner’s classic “Better Be Good To Me” and if you’ll recall, Cy makes a cameo in that music video.

Enjoy “Secret Separation!”

Paul Rudd and G

I hate to gush, but I have loved actor Paul Rudd for years!  He’s been on my short list of people I must meet in this lifetime and February 8, 2011 was the day!  Paul Rudd was in Brooklyn to read passages from the book  My Dead Dad Was In ZZ Top  by Jon Glaser at The Bell House.  The weather was frigid outside and Paul still took the time to be nice!  He told me that he was running extremely late.  I explained that the photo would just take a second.  Sure enough, he graciously took a picture with me and he said “Wow!  You weren’t kidding.  That did just take a second!”  I didn’t realize it was possible to love him more than I already did, but to quote the name of one of his movies – I love you, man!  Thanks again Paul!

Don Draper!  On February 8, 2011 “Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm made a special appearance in Brooklyn to read passages from the book “My Dead Dad Was In ZZ Top” by Jon Glaser at The Bell House.  Although we were experiencing frigid weather, Jon Hamm was extremely nice!  I’ve heard from reliable sources that the actor is a prince of a guy, and I am happy to confirm!  Thanks Jon for taking a moment to freeze with me!

Here’s a clip (with some extreme closeups) of Marina and the Diamonds singing “Hollywood” from their debut performance in the United States at Brooklyn’s Bell House on March 14, 2010. Marina and crew are going to be huge stars!

New York based singer Samuel opened for Marina and the Diamonds for her debut performance in the United States on March 14, 2010 at the Bell House in Brooklyn.  His music fuses electro and hip hop and his voice is very soulful.  He was recently signed to Columbia Records, and while there is currently no release date scheduled for his debut album, he’s become a much sought-after guest vocalist and producer.  His track “I Heart New York,” is a glam love song to the city we all love so much.  You can download 2 free mp3s of Samuel doing guest vocals on the tracks “Fader” and “Starry Eyed” here.  Alternately, you can download a free mp3 of “Fader” on the Neon Gold Records official blog.

Samuel - easy to like, hard to find on Google.
