Plan B- "iLL Manors." Coming May 2012.
Plan B is back! The British rapper and crooner has announced plans to release the movie “iLL Manors” on May 4, 2012 (details for the rest of the world are TBA as of press time). The premise of the film will be six inter-linking short stories, represented by a different rap song, coming together at the end. A soundtrack to accompany the film will be released at the same time. If you don’t know Plan B’s album “The Defamation of Strickland Banks,” you are missing out! It’s filled with soul, rap and is the perfect remedy to the mediocre superstars of 2011.

Ben Drew, better known as Plan B won 3 Ivor Novello Awards in England yesterday. I really love his album “The Defamation of Strickland Banks.” It’s got so many styles of music including soul, rap, pop, jazz and I think every song on it is great. Most of the world has caught on, but not surprisingly, the album is too genre defying for America. Plan B spoke about not making it big in America and he said this:
“I’m too white for the black radio stations and I’m too black for white radio stations so nobody knows where to place me. It just seems to be a lot of cock sucking that has to go on in order to get your music to get played to the masses and I’m just not prepared to suck cock really.” – Plan B
I really hope he enjoys success in the States. I’ve seen a lot of bands over the last few years that I think are really great and they can’t seem to make a splash here. It’s very sad considering some of the drivel that is chart topping, but the old adage rings true once again – the masses are asses.
In other Plan B news, his track “Hard Times” has been re-released featuring guest vocals from Elton John and Paloma Faith. The proceeds of the single will be donated to relief efforts in Japan and Pakistan.

Singer Ben Drew, who is better known as Plan B, is going to be a very busy man in 2011. He’s currently on tour in support of his soulful/pop album “The Defamation of Strickland Banks,” which is up for a ton of awards internationally. The singer also announced that a film entitled “Ill Manors,” which he directed, is aiming to be released in early 2012. Plan B notes that before November 2011, he needs to write the soundtrack to the film, which is a multi-character story, set in the tough streets of East London where everyone is fighting for respect. He’s also putting the finishing touches on his hip-hop album “The Ballad of Belmarsh,” which he also hopes to release before the end of this year. “The Defamation of Strickland Banks” will probably get a US release date this year as well, and you know what that means – more live shows! If you get the chance to see Plan B live, I highly recommend it. His voice is amazing and his music is very catchy. Good luck B!

Plan B’s live debut in the United States was so great! He played New York’s Bowery Ballroom on 1/11/11 and with numbers like that, you know it had to be magic! I got a chance to meet the singer after the show and I congratulated him on such a great performance. He was really cool. I also mentioned that I think he’s going to be a big star in the US and he thanked me for my well wishes. His album “The Defamation of Strickland Banks” will be out in the US soon and I highly recommend it! It’s got soul, rap and it’ll make your ears very happy when you hear it. Thanks again B, and I’m going to be looking for your name in all the magazines!
