Paul Banks of Interpol
I have a massive band crush on Interpol. I love their music, they are great in concert, I’ve had 3 really positive experiences meeting the band and tonight, they rocked and raised money for a great cause. Dubbed the “Sickday Fuzzy Sock Hop,” to raise money for the Sickday Safety Net organization, Interpol and Blonde Redhead played a sold out show at New York’s Terminal 5 on May 8, 2011. Before you read on about the show, please have a look at the Sickday Safety Net site – especially if you are one of the many New Yorkers without health insurance. And now, on with the show. Interpol hit the stage at 9:30 and played for a little over an hour and a half. This was the last night of their nearly year long tour and they announced many times how happy they were to be home. The only two songs I can think of that were surprise omissions were “Stella Was A Diver and She’s Always Down” and “Barricade,” but in place of those songs, we heard “Mammoth,” “Rest My Chemistry,” “The Lighthouse” and B-side “Specialist” from the very early days of the band. Some of the highlights for me were “Not Even Jail,” “Obstacle 1,” “Evil” and “Narc.” “Say Hello To The Angels,” was another crowd favorite and a video will be coming soon so stay tuned.

Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again. Now showing at Sloan Fine Art in NYC through March 26, 2011
After the tremendous success of last year’s “Single Fare,” an exhibit comprised of hundreds of artists making art on used MTA Subway cards, Sloan Fine Art in New York is now presenting the sequel: ”Single Fare 2: Please Swipe Again.” The opening night gala on March 17, 2011 was quite a scene. Proceeds from the sales last night benefited Transportation Alternatives (transalt.org) and Alliance for the Arts’ NYC ARTS (NYC-ARTS.org) and the gallery was packed to the rafters for art afficianados to add to their collections while raising money for great causes.

Radiohead live at All Points West - August 2008
Radiohead played a one off gig to raise money for Haiti last weekend in Los Angeles and details have emerged as to what the set list was. They debuted a new song called “Lotus Flower.” While I haven’t heard it, I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with a fan website where members can pay $77 a year to receive content long after it’s delivered for free on other sites.
According to NME, the setlist was:
‘Faust Arp’
‘Fake Plastic Trees’
‘Weird Fishes/Arpeggi’
‘The National Anthem’
‘Nude’
‘Karma Police’
‘Kid A’
‘Morning Bell’
‘How To Disappear Completely’
‘A Wolf at the Door’
‘The Bends’
‘Reckoner’
‘Lucky’
‘Bodysnatchers’
‘Dollars & Cents’
‘Airbag’
‘Exit Music’
‘Everything In Its Right Place’
‘You And Whose Army?’
‘Pyramid Song’
‘All I Need’
‘Lotus Flower’
‘Paranoid Android’
‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’
For those that went, I hope you had a great time for a great cause and just know that I am uber-jealous!
