Bob Dylan!!!!!

Bob Dylan!!!!!

In an almost too good to be true year of seeing hundreds of shows in 2009 (reference any month in this blog for proof), I capped an amazing run by seeing an icon – Bob Dylan.  On November 19, 2009, Bob Dylan played his 3rd and final sold out show at the United Palace Theater in New York.  Every movement, every word and every minute of the concert was legendary.  It was as if you could see a video biography of Dylan’s iconic moments in your head every time the legend sang in his trademark whiny voice.  Aside from introducing the band, he never said a word to the audience, but it didn’t matter.  Dylan got thunderous applause and standing ovations after pretty much every song.  He played keyboards, guitar and harmonica throughout the night.

Like a rolling stone.

Like a rolling stone.

He focused on playing a lot of his newer material, but luckily spared us from singing tracks from his recently released Christmas album.  Of note, he played “Highway 61 Revisited,” “Jolene,” “All Along The Watchtower,” and “Like A Rolling Stone.”  Words cannot express the feeling of seeing these songs performed live by the man himself in New York!  He changes the setlist drastically every night and the man is 68 years old!  Though he wouldn’t take his hat off for us, my hat’s off to you Mr. Dylan!

See some more pictures and the setlist after the jump.
