FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Book

A Hilarious New Book “I WON THE INTERNET! – DAILY WIT, WISDOM AND SELFIES, ACCORDING TO G.” To Be Released In September 2014

New York, NY (September 10, 2014) – Poet and blogger Geoffrey Dicker announces his third book, “I WON THE INTERNET! – DAILY WIT, WISDOM AND SELFIES, ACCORDING TO G,” which will be available to purchase through Amazon on September 20, 2014. The book chronicles some of the encounters of a “modern day Zelig” who has met a celebrity born on each day of the year (including Oprah Winfrey, Bono, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Morrissey, James Franco, Lady Gaga, Joan Rivers, Bryan Cranston, Jane Fonda and Ringo Starr) and presents his witty and uncensored one-liners and words of wisdom disguised as Status Updates and Tweets. Dicker encourages the reader to use this book as a guide to put them at the forefront of pop culture. It’s literally three books in one!

The book contains two sections of thoughtful and hilarious ideas for people to ponder and share online to make them the most popular person in their social media newsfeed. The third section is dedicated to “Selfies” which showcase a small portion of Dicker’s impressive celebrity autograph and selfie photo collection. Using this book as a daily calendar, readers get the chance to view these superstars and legends in the making in an entirely different light. The book features 365 exclusive color photographs of some of the biggest names in entertainment, music and art, and features cover art by pop artist Troy Gua.

“As a consumer of social media, I got sick of seeing people posting the same ideas and being afraid to voice their opinion as it might not be politically correct, so I’ve written this book to help people find new things to complain and laugh about. This book is my response to some of the good and not so good things I’ve experienced on line as well as some satire on social (and anti-social) media and the current state of the world. Plus, there are 365 exclusive color photos of celebrities!” Dicker said.

For celebrity enthusiasts, pop culture critics and aspiring social media superstars, this book is a must read. Featuring 365 exclusive color photos, the book is available in September 2014 from Amazon. Go viral!

Unfinished Lyrics by Geoffrey Dicker

Unfinished Lyrics by Geoffrey Dicker

A few years ago, I teased the existence of a new book entitled “Unfinished Lyrics.”  My fans have been asking me “WHEN?” ever since.  Well, my darlings, the wait is almost over, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience.  At the time, I shifted gears away from my own art to write about my adventures in the art and music worlds.  If you read this site, you know there are very few life changing experiences I’ve not had in those realms.  I’ve experienced the good, the awesome, the bad and the nasty.  Rather than be like everyone else, which to me is a fate worse than death, I’m going to continue to grow and challenge myself as I focus on a series of new projects, the first of which is “Unfinished Lyrics.”

The book is a collection of lyric fragments (couplets, choruses and verses), song lyrics that have never been recorded in any way as well as songs that have been recorded primarily by the uber talented singers Jim Emmons and Jeremy Gloff.

What you may or may not know is that Jim Emmons and I have released 3 albums:  “In The Absence of Red,” “Throwing Stars” and “So Strange” (shameless plug: all are available on iTunes) and the track “Manhunt” recorded by Jeremy Gloff was featured in the movie “Eating Out: The Lost Weekend.”

I pose the challenge to you, my dear readers, that when you read the words, if they make you feel like singing, DO IT!  Let’s make a million bucks!  Everyone else is doing it, so why not you and me?!

More details and samples to be released soon, so please watch this space.

Thanks again for all your love and support!

xx,

G

The band The Kills made quite a splash in New York on August 18, 2012.  Before performing a free end of summer concert on the pier, The Kills signed copies of their new coffee table book “Dream and Drive” at Book Marc in the West Village,  which features photographs of the band and was shot by Kenneth Cappello.

In addition to signing autographs, The Kills were more than gracious enough to take photos with fans.  That type of behaviour is more than welcomed and always encouraged, according2g. Thanks The Kills!

Thurston Moore and Henry Rollins Discuss “Occupants”

Henry Rollins has a new book!  It’s called “Occupants” and it’s a book of photos that Henry Rollins took on his travels all over the world.  Accompanying the amazing pictures are Rollins’ reflections on the situation.  If you anything about Henry Rollins, you know this book is great because the man has seen and done a ton of incredible things and is not afraid to discuss them with total honesty – no matter who he pisses off.  And all I can say to that is, AMEN HENRY!  Henry Rollins discussed “Occupants” with Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore at McNally Jackson book store in New York on October 14, 2011.  Thurston and Henry talked for an hour and it went by so quickly because both men are absolutely fascinating.  It’s also interesting to note that I came home and heard the news that Thurston Moore has called it quits with his wife Kim Gordon (also of Sonic Youth) and there was not one word mentioned about it.

Henry Rollins talked a little bit about some of the places he visited over the course the last 7 years and some of his experiences in Africa, the United States and various war zones across the world.  Rollins pointed out that some of the most dangerous places he’s seen are in the United States, where people are much less open minded than in places we’ve been led to believe are out to hurt this country.  He also talked about his controversial decision to be a part of the USO, entertaining the troops.  Rollins points out that he’s anti-war and the soldiers are not the ones who started it.  He’s merely doing his part to put some smiles on the faces of the people who are doing what they think is defending their country.  It was a really interesting way of looking at it.  Rollins put it more eloquently and if he ever does a spoken word performance or public discussion, it’s highly recommended to listen to Henry Rollins speak – he really knows what he’s talking about, according2g.

After the discussion was over, Rollins and Moore hung out, signed books and spoke with fans.  Both Henry Rollins and Thurston Moore were so nice!  It was really impressive (especially since Henry Rollins and Thurston Moore who have each accomplished so many amazing things in their own right).  You can see my photos with the legendary Thurston Moore and Henry Rollins after the jump.  Thanks guys!
