Bankrupt Slut must have been predicting the future in this piece. Recently in Los Angeles, some Sluts were capped by advertisements for the Red Hot Chili Peppers new record! As we all know in the world of street art, once a piece goes up, its lifespan clock is ticking. The art can be destroyed by, but not limited to, the authorities, fans, Mother Nature and of course ‘officially sanctioned advertising.’
It was discovered that one of the ‘official advertisements’ was put up by one of the biggest names in the street art world – Mr. Brainwash.
You can read more about it (as well as some interesting comments from some upset fans of street art) on Melrose and Fairfax. I wonder how this will play out…
PS. If you want to see “Violators Will Be Towed,” you don’t have to worry about it being destroyed, but time’s running short. The piece is featured in the ultra epic show “What Graffiti is to New York Street Art is to Los Angeles,” which is showing at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles through the end of June.
As they say on Melrose and Fairfax, “stay up!”
