Trudie Styler and G

Edina Monsoon from Absolutely Fabulous is going to be so jealous!  I met actress, producer, yoga guru and Mrs. Sting, Trudie Styler yesterday and she was super cool!  In addition to producing films such as “Snatch,” Trudie Styler works tirelessly for environmental causes such as the Rainforest Foundation Fund, an organization that for over 21 years is helping to preserve the rainforests.  With the aid of benefit concerts that Trudie Styler organizes, she’s helped raise over $30,000,000 for the organization.  Amazing!  Thanks again Trudie for being cool and for helping the planet!

Bruce Springsteen

The Queen of Cool and my dear friend April attended the hottest ticket in town tonight and she wanted to share a few photos of what looks like an amazing night.   Before we go on, let’s all bow down to her.

You may rise.

On May 13, 2010 at Carnegie Hall in New York, some of the biggest singers in the world got together to help save the rainforests!  The A-List included Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Sting, Dame Shirley Bassey and Mary J. Blige.  Color us all jealous.

There’ll be lots more photos coming soon when you visit April’s site.

On behalf of all of us, THANKS!!!

G Meets Lady Gaga!

Lady Gaga and G

Sometimes I just happen to be at the right place at the right time.  Today was a perfect example.  Prior to hitting the stage at New York’s Carnegie Hall for a benefit concert, I met the biggest star in the world today – Lady Gaga!  Of course, she was utterly mobbed by a bunch of fame monsters, but in the midst of the chaos, she managed to carve out a little bit of time to pose for a picture with her favorite blogger, G.  Thanks so much Gaga for being so cool.  You’ve left me speechless.

Iggy Pop Retires from Stagediving

When I saw Iggy Pop perform at Carnegie Hall recently, I knew it was a historic rock and roll moment, but until today, I had no idea that I was to witness his final stagedive ever!  NME has reported that after making a pretty horrible fall at the legendary venue, he has decided that his days of stage diving are over.  The pictures you are about to see do not live up to the highest standard that I usually provide, but since they are now a piece of history, I thought I’d share the final moments of Iggy Pop stagediving with you.  The action happened so quickly and was so shocking, I could barely believe my eyes.

Some back story:  The crowd decided to rush the stage at Carengie Hall (and watching security totally freak out was worth the price of admission on its own), and Iggy decided to dive into the crowd.  The dive did not go as well as planned as there was hardly any space between the stage and the first row of seats.  However, Iggy being the amazing performer he is, rebounded in just a few seconds and was back on stage in a blink-and-you-missed-it moment.

Philip Glass brings friends Iggy Pop and Patti Smith to Carnegie Hall!

Patti Smith and Iggy Pop live at Carnegie Hall - February 26, 2010

For the 20th anniversary celebration of Tibet House concerts, composer Philip Glass pulled out all the stops.  The event was called “Philip Glass and Friends” and it took place at New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall on February 26, 2010.  As if seeing one of the most influential composers of the modern age wasn’t enough, his friends that came along to entertain us were Russian anti-folk hero Regina Spektor, the NY gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Patti Smith and soon to be inducted Hall of Famer Iggy Pop!  Holy Cow!  Patti Smith covered the O’Jays’ classic “Love Train,” before finishing with a show-stopping “Gloria.”  When I heard the opening notes of that song, I had instant recall of why I decided to trek out in a blizzard to see this show!  She brought the house down and further secured her place as a goddess in the world of G.  Who can follow an act like that?  Iggy Pop!  Iggy played “The Passenger” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog.”  Wow!  What an evening.
