Amanda Lepore is a fashion icon!  The transsexual icon has appeared in countless music videos, including her own, and is a popular subject of photographer David LaChapelle.  Moments after I met LaChapelle at an afterparty for his new exhibit, I met the fabulous Amanda Lepore.  Amanda was hosting her new weekly party Carnival on the top floor of New York’s Bowlmor Lanes.  If you haven’t been yet, you must go!  Under a circus tent – literally – there are performers, popcorn, prizes, cocktails, dancing and people dressed to the 9s, gay style!  It’s a blast!  The photo was taken by nightlife promoter, fashion designer, artist and hottie Joey Israel (more to come on his really great art coming soon – stay tuned).  Thanks Joey and thanks Amanda!  I had a wonderful time!

After attending 3 art exhibitions and seeing 3 bands, I figured I’d top the evening off with a visit to Amanda Lepore’s new party Carnival at Bowlmor Lanes in New York, which is extremely cool, by the way.  As luck would have it, one of my photographer idols David LaChapelle was in the house and I got to meet the man that’s taken iconic photos of Cher, David Bowie, Madonna, Pamela Anderson, Amanda Lepore, Whitney Houston, Courtney Love, David Beckham – need I go on?  He also directed Elton John’s Vegas stage show “The Red Piano,” has worked for every cool magazine under the sun, has directed countless music videos and has several amazing coffee table books of his work in print!  Needless to say, the man is a god!  He was extremely nice when I met him, though I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumours but I think he was just a bit intoxicated, and by just a bit, it was lucky he was standing.  Regardless, he was wearing a Shepard Fairey shirt and he was extremely nice, so that’s all that really matters to me.  This is a website that does its best to share the love and not talk trash. David LaChapelle – I bow before your greatness and thanks again for being so cool!
