Notorious BIG

It seems hard to believe that rapper Christopher Wallace, aka Notorious BIG aka Biggie Smalls was murdered 14 years ago on March 9, 1997.  He was only 25 years old when he was assassinated and his murderer is still on the loose.  Way to go police!  His debut album “Ready to Die” has so many great songs on it. The record has weird memories attached to it for me, so I don’t listen to it too often, but it’s very hard to resist Biggie’s voice and those funky ass beats!  One of the things I’ve always found so interesting about meeting famous people is to see them interact with fans in comparison to their on stage personas.  So many rappers whose lyrics are all about violence are extremely soft spoken and very friendly in person, which in my opinion adds another dimension to their music that the general public does not get to see.  It’s like a switch they turn on and off when they step onto the stage.  Since Biggie’s death, I’ve had the chance to experience life on both the East and West Coast and I’ve seen first hand the rivalry between the 2 sides.  I always say that both places have great and bad things about them when I am asked and I cannot understand why there is such a hatred of one versus the other.  Can’t we all just get along?  Obviously more is involved, but this type of rivalry resulted in the senseless deaths of two very talented rappers – 2Pac Shakur and Notorious BIG.  Biggie, RIP.  Your music continues to live on and will not be forgotten any time soon.
