Admittedly, this is not the best video I’ve taken, but where else are you going to hear “In Your Eyes” performed with an orchestra at Radio City Music Hall?! This is a rhetorical question. :)
A word of caution, the lighting was making my camera freak out a bit, so now that you’ve been warned, here’s a nice little clip of “In Your Eyes” on May 2, 2010.
I’d like to thank artist Shepard Fairey for allowing me to tape a short clip of him making his latest mural on the streets of New York. The mural is to celebrate his next exhibition which hits the Big Apple in May, 2010. A photo of me and the artist is coming soon! Stay tuned!
I cannot believe it was one year ago today that I saw Lily Allen perform at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. I had both of her records and liked them very much, but I had been apprehensive about seeing her live because her reputation was that she would go on stage totally shit-faced if she even showed up to the gig at all. In spite of all odds, I went and I had a really great time. The opening act Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head was really great and then Lily rocked also. She definitely smoked and drank on stage, but made it through the show with no problem. In fact, she even hosted a cheesecake eating contest mid-way through the show and finished off the concert with a cover of Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” that brought the house down. I never wrote a review, as that was Pre-According2g, but if there’s enough interest, let me know as I can post pictures I took at the show. I have a bunch.
When I was digging through the G archives, I discovered this video of one of my favorite singers, Van Hunt, singing his classic song “Dust,” at BB King’s in New York on October 29, 2007. After a rousing set of rock, funk and R&B, I met Van after the show and I was able to express my gratitude to him for providing the soundtrack to happiness during a period when a lot was not so happy in my life. He was super cool. His self-titled debut is an album that is still in heavy rotation on my stereo, many years after its initial release. Enjoy this video! (and watch out for annoying screaming by the ladies standing next to me in the front row as the clip opens)
As I was going through the G archives compiling my first coffee table book (which is coming along fabulously – and more details will be forthcoming – so stay tuned!), I happened upon a clip of the wonderfully underrated singer Duffy singing “Mercy” (Acoustic) at Virgin Megastore (RIP) in New York on May 13, 2008. Duffy performed a few songs that day and when I met her afterwards, she was seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I wish her all the best, and please come back from hiatus!
