I hope all my Angelinos go see Nikka Costa tonight at the Roxy when she hits the stage. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen her live and every time I leave one of her shows, I get that feeling of having a musical religious experience. The woman is so funky and soulful, the best way I can describe her is if James Brown and Janis Joplin had a musical baby, it would be Nikka! Below is a video from one of her performances at the Roxy on December 30, 2007 performing “Yes We Can.” If this video doesn’t make you become a life long fan, then obviously I’ll be needing to post another video clip or two.
And to all my friends going to the show, I expect a full report!
Enjoy! Nikka, if you’re out there, come visit us in New York!

My posts on Thom Yorke’s “new” band Atoms for Peace have been wildly successful. I’ve been getting a lot of requests via email to post more photos and as my faithful readers know, I aim to please. You can see even more photos here, a short clip of “Harrowdown Hill” here and the world premiere of the song “A Walk Down The Staircase” aka “Take Control” aka “Chris Hodges/Let Me Take Control” here. So without further delay, here are more pictures of our favorite radio head, Thom Yorke live at Roseland Ballroom on April 5, 2010.
On April 5, 2010, Thom Yorke’s new band Atoms for Peace played their first concert in New York. My favorite song of the night was “Harrowdown Hill,” as it features the lyric “We think the same thing at the same time / We just can’t do anything about it / So don’t ask me, ask the ministry.” With that being said, I hope you enjoy this video of Thom jumping around the stage in that way that only he can. The sound quality is not the greatest, but what can ya do?
To celebrate the fact that I am going to see Thom Yorke’s band Atoms for Peace later, I pulled this video out of the G Archives. It’s a clip of Radiohead singing “Nude” from the All Points West Festival on 8/8/08. This clips shows my favorite lyric of all time from Radiohead: ”You’ll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking.” As I was uploading the video, Thom Yorke’s angelic vocals made all the hair on my arms stand straight up. I hope it does the same for you! I wish I would have captured the entire song, but luckily, I got snippets of many of the “In Rainbows” songs played on that magical evening. Stay tuned.
The sound quality is not great, but I still encourage you to watch this Jake-a-licious clip of Scissor Sisters singing their new song “Any Which Way” live from the Bowery Ballroom on March 17, 2010 in New York. I am very excited for their 3rd album which is scheduled for release in July 2010. Enjoy!
