The Artist Formerly Known as Courtney Love

The BBC is reporting that Courtney Love no longer wants to be known by that moniker as it is too oppressive.  From this second forth, she’d like to be known by her birth name Courtney Michelle.  Fair enough, but just so you know Courtney Michelle, most of the world is going to continue to call you by this name: Batshit Crazy!

Courtney Love and Scarlett Johansson

If you are like me and you believe everything you read on the internet, you’ll have no problem with a report from The Sun that Courtney Love is in talks to have a bio-pic of Kurt Cobain’s life coming soon to the big screen.  Scarlett Johansson will play Courtney Love and Robert Pattinson will play Kurt Cobain.  I think ScarJo as Courtney might be good casting but R-Patz as Kurt?  What do you think of these rumours?  Who is your ideal Kurt and Courtney?

Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain?

PS.  The pictures above were taken (with my hand) at the following:  Courtney and Scarlett (at Carnegie Hall in 2009); Robert Pattinson in the East Village of New York on the set of “Remember Me”

Tonight at New York’s Chelsea Market Place, WENN (the World Entertainment News Network) celebrated 21 years of celebrity photography. Gail and I had a great time mingling with the rich and soon to be famous and the entire event was for a great cause.  WENN has set up the ability for fans to purchase high quality photos of celebs and they are donating all of the proceeds to Haiti relief.  You can find out how to participate here.  The exhibit will run from now until February 28, 2010.

Bloggers G of according2g.com and Gail of worleygig.com on the Red Carpet.

Here’s a tiny sample of what you can expect to see at this exhibit.

The hot mess Courtney Love appeared at Carnegie Hall on October 4, 2009 to be a part of Gavin Friday’s AIDS benefit to help raise money for the disease.  She introduced the reunion of Gavin Friday’s old band and former U2 opening act, The Virgin Prunes (who haven’t played together in over 15 years), plus she also performed, both with Friday and actress/singer Scarlett Johansson.

U2 Live at Carnegie Hall - October 4, 2009

At Gavin Friday’s AIDS benefit on October 4, 2009 at Carnegie Hall in New York, the star-studded event featured some knock-out performances by U2!

Taking a slight break from their 360 Tour, U2 performed covers of T. Rex’s classics “Children of the Revolution” and “20th Century Boy,” and the sold-out crowd absolutely lost their minds to hear these rare performances.

As usual, I was in the right place at the right time, and tonight’s place to be was Carnegie Hall in Manhattan for “Gavin Friday and Friends,” a benefit concert to raise money for AIDS research.

This star-studded sold-out event featured performances by U2 (performing T. Rex’s “Children of the Revolution”), Lady Gaga, Courtney Love, Rufus Wainwright, Scarlett Johansson, Antony, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Maria McKee, Shane MacGowan (of the Pogues) and Lydia Lunch, just to name a few.  There’ll be more pictures to come – so bookmark this site and tell a million of your friends –  but for now, feast your eyes on these pictures (including a rare solo-piano performance from Lady Gaga).

See them plus the set list after the jump.
