Nick Zinner is the kind of artist we all dream of becoming.  He’s the guitarist for the uber-successful band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, he’s produced songs for Ronnie Spector and TV On The Radio and he’s done remixes for Bloc Party.  He’s also an accomplished photographer, who has published 3 books of his work.  For the health conscious who are not impressed with the above credentials, he’s a vegan!  When I met Nick Zinner, he was extremely nice as you can see from the above photo.  I met him at the launch party for The Creators Project in New York, which goes down in G history as one of the most epic events I’ve ever been to.  He had some of his works on display, which you can see after the jump.  But first let me set the stage.  You walked into a darkened room where ambient music was playing and each of his pictures were lit from behind as you walked through the room to get to the next image.  It was really cool.  Thanks again Nick!

At the launch party for the Creators Project, I met the amazing artist Hojun Song.  One of his latest projects is called “The Strongest Weapon in the World,” which is a machine that spits out beautiful messages even in times of distress.  You can read more about it here.  Thanks again to Hojun Song for being so cool and I am looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

On June 26, 2010 at the launch party for the Creators Project at Milk Studios in New York, I met the electronic duo The Golden Filter.  They have made many of my favorite remixes including “We Are The People” by Empire of the Sun, “New in Town” by Little Boots, “Lay It Down” by Peter Bjorn and John and their solo album “Voluspa,” which was released earlier this year, is pretty awesome as well.  They were doing a DJ set which I also enjoyed and as the Golden Filter took turns mixing, I met both Stephen Hindman and Penelope Trappes, and they were both really cool.  Thanks so much and looking forward to lots more great music!

On June 26, 2010 at the launch party for the Creators Project at Milk Studios in New York, I met Alan Palomo aka Neon Indian.  Neon Indian’s “Psychic Chasms” made a lot of critics best albums of 2009 list and it features the song “I Should Have Taken Acid With You,” which in my opinion is one of the best song titles of all time.  Neon Indian was super cool and I thank him for the great music and for being super cool!

On June 26, 2010 at the loading dock of Milk Studios in New York, the Rapture played a 40 minute set for the launch party for The Creators Project. It was my first exposure to their music and I loved what they heard.  The dance/punk band played “House of Jealous Lovers” and “Get Yourself Into It,” but did not play any tracks from their rumored 2010 summer release.  After they finished their awesome set, I met lead singer Luke Jenner of The Rapture and he was totally cool.  Thanks Luke.  You’ve turned me into a fan and I am looking forward to your next release.

See two more pictures of The Rapture live after the jump.
