For Joshua Petker’s first solo exhibit “Adrift” at LeBasse Projects in Los Angeles, he takes the viewer on a journey into the colorful unknown. The subject matter of this series of paintings is a departure from Joshua’s previous exhibits, but the style is unmistakable. These photos do not do justice to the vivid colors Petker uses. I highly recommend you view these works in person as you will definitely be wowed!
While the exhibit focuses on nautical themed works, Joshua’s highly stylized portraits will be instantly recognizable to fans of his previous work.
LeBasse Projects is located at 6023 Washington Blvd. in Culver City in Los Angeles. “Adrift” by Joshua Petker runs through July 7, 2012.

Cindy Wright - New Works. Showing at the Mark Moore Gallery in Culver City, CA through July 9, 2011.
Los Angeles! See two cool exhibits under one roof at the Mark Moore Gallery in Culver City. First is ”New Work” by Belgian artist Cindy Wright. Cindy Wright is a contemporary photorealist painter whose subject matter will startle you and her technique will wow you.
In the project room at the Mark Moore Gallery is a solo exhibition from New York artist Mark Fox entitled “Statute.” “Statute” features a combination of installation, metalwork and his trademark intricate paper cut-outs.
Both exhibits are on display at the Mark Moore Gallery (located at 5790 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, CA) through July 9, 2011.

Los Angeles! Save the date. On June 11, 2011 at the Corey Heford Gallery, a gala reception for Joshua Petker’s mini-exhibit entitled “Celluloid Constellations” will be taking place. Joshua Petker is paying tribute to Hollywood legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Dorothy Dandridge, Veronica Lake and Fatty Arbuckle. As always with his paintings, you have to expect the unexpected as Joshua is notorious for subtlety infusing vivid colors that take his subjects into another dimension. Every time I look at his paintings, I find myself contemplating the back stories on the figures he’s painted. In this exhibit, we already know the back stories on the subjects or at least we think we do. When you examine these paintings, you’ll see a darker and more vulnerable side to these legendary beauties.
The Corey Helford Gallery is located at 8522 Washington Blvd. in Culver City. The mini-exhibit “Celluloid Constellations” by Joshua Petker will be on view from June 11 – June 30, 2011. The opening night reception is on June 11, 2011 at 6 PM, so I expect you to represent! Joshua is a very cool guy, so please say hello him on opening night. Tell him G sent ya!
For people that live outside of Los Angeles, I have a special treat – after the jump, see a few more images from “Celluloid Constellations” by Joshua Petker!
