On April 17, 2014, New York experienced “Croll-chella” as Britain’s Dan Croll performed a sold out show at Bowery Ballroom. I’m really into his debut album “Sweet Disarray,” which fuses folk and electronic music with rock accents (think Two Door Cinema Club meets Paul Simon). Dan thanked the audience several times for purchasing his album instead of downloading it illegally, and he rewarded his fans by hanging out at the merch table after the show was over. Very classy! I’m looking forward to hearing more great things from Dan and you will be too after you press play on the below video for “In/Out” which will undoubtedly be stuck in your head for the rest of the day because it’s ridiculously catchy. I’m glad to provide that service for you! Great seeing you again Dan! Support Dan Croll’s music by visiting his official website.

Dan Croll and Geoffrey Dicker
My history with singer Dan Croll has been brief, but it’s packed a strong punch. I was getting tickets for a show and I got a suggestion that if I liked that band, I’d like Dan Croll. So sight unseen, I got a ticket for his upcoming April 2014 show at Bowery Ballroom in New York. I took a chance and got a ticket because that’s what I do – experience the unknown as often as possible. I decided to tweet the singer to let him know and within moments, he was interacting with me on the anti-social media networking site. I appreciated the gesture (as I can’t even begin to tell you how many artists I’ve reviewed whose tweets fall by the waste-side by said artists or their inept marketing arms), so I decided to follow Dan on Twitter. Within a week, he posted a tweet that he’d be shopping at Rough Trade in Brooklyn at a particular time and that we should all come down and say hello. I did just that and Dan was absolutely lovely to talk to in person. I’ve heard an advanced copy of his record “Sweet Disarray” and I am loving it! I’d say his music has a bit of a Paul Simon meets Two Door Cinema Club vibe happening and according 2 G, that is a great thing! I’m looking forward to the official release of the record (which is March 10, 2014 – or March 11, 2014 in the USA) and even more excited to see Dan perform these songs live. Go to Dan Croll’s official website where you can download the track “Can You Hear Me” for free, for a limited time. The link will open in a new window. Thanks again Dan and see you very soon!
