To answer your question before we begin, YES – that Dave Matthews.  Singer Dave Matthews and fellow artist Beezy Bailey have collaborated for an exhibit entitled “ITICA PRITICA” which is currently on display at Robert Miller Gallery in New York.  After reading about the exhibit, I learned that both artists were born in South Africa and first collaborated in 1999 for an African music and art fair.

This exhibit features 28 silk-screened works and a film that accompanies the canvases, soundtracked of course by Dave Matthews.  The works are impressively large and many feature their favorite recurring characters, “the fatman,” the Statue of Liberty and in some cases, themselves.

You gotta love being flexible!  I was on my way to a completely different event, when I got a phone call that Dave Matthews was right down the street from where I happened to be.  I decided to check out the situation as any good investigative reporter would and BAM – the tip was correct.  “Uncle Dave,” as the autograph hounds waiting to meet him called him, was so very nice.  He signed autographs in spite of being swarmed by fans.  Thanks Dave!  It was really great to meet you!
