Deborah Harry at WIP wearing a "Jesus Looks Like Me" T-Shirt!
In the wee hours of the morning of February 8, 2012, Deborah Harry stopped by the club WIP in New York to perform with Miss Guy of The Toilet Boys, whose new video was premiered tonight. In other amazing news, the Toilet Boys will be opening for Guns N’ Roses at their shows this weekend in Manhattan. Back to tonight - Deborah Harry performed 2 songs including the disco classic “New York Groove” with Miss Guy. This was my first time at WIP and the club is really cool. I saw art from several street artists including Dick Chicken on the walls and the crowd were dressed to the 9s in a scene reminiscent of the old Studio 54 days. The nearly impossible to get into show was also served as an unofficial kick off party for Fashion Week.

Debbie Harry and Geoffrey Dicker
Wow! I have had so many wacky encounters with Blondie’s lead singer Debbie Harry and sadly for me, most of them have turned out pretty bad. My curse was lifted on September 13, 2011. Blondie was performing a concert and I had to miss it due to a previous engagement. As the venue was on my way home, I decided to check out the scene. Debbie was not in the mood to sign autographs for a legion of fans that were waiting to meet her, but she posed for photos with a few fans including me! I am SO happy. Thanks Debbie!

Rock This Way
You’ll have to click on these pictures to enlarge. There’ve been a few variations of a fake magazine called “Rock This Way,” popping up on the streets of New York. The magazines feature vintage stories like “New Music from The Sex Pistols.”

Keith Haring at Gladstone Gallery in New York. Now showing through July 1, 2011
Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958. The late artist’s 53rd birthday was celebrated in New York with the opening night gala reception of a Keith Haring exhibit which features 133 previously unseen works on paper at the Gladstone Gallery (located at 515 West 21st Street in NYC). The works are taken from a series called “Manhattan Penis Drawings for Ken Hicks” (1978). Also featured are three large scale works created in 1984 and 1984.

Keith’s birthday was celebrated with a lot of love and emotion in the gallery. I overheard many conversations of people sharing their personal experiences with Keith Haring. Spotted in the crowd (and you can see pictures after the jump) were artist Scooter LaForge, rock and roll goddess Debbie Harry as well as Keith Haring’s parents, Joan and Allen Haring.
