Happy birthday to the legendary Diana Ross. I saw her in concert last year and at the ripe age of 66, she worked it! She looked flawless and sounded amazing and played every single hit you could ever hope to hear (except “Eaten Alive.”) Happy birthday Diana!
I estimate that I saw over 200 bands in 2010. Picking out the top 10 shows that really blew me away was a really hard task because I was privileged to see so much great music. Believe me, there were way more than 10 shows that knocked my socks off, but for purposes of a top ten list, these are my picks. Please believe me that if any of these bands come to your town, I cannot recommend highly enough that you go see them!
Marilyn Monroe by Michael Kalish now showing at the Opera Gallery in New York through May 31, 2010.
Artists Logan Hicks, Anthony Lister and Michael Kalish are showing recent works at the Opera Gallery in New York and all three artists have really great stuff. American artist Michael Kalish has become infamous for using pieces of license plates in his amazing works and some of his pieces live in the collections of people from Nancy Regan to Kid Rock! I was really taken with these unique works of art and I highly recommend you pay a visit to see this exhibit prior to its closing date on May 31, 2010. The Opera Gallery is located at 115 Spring Street in New York.
See Kalish’s visions of Jimi Hendrix, Diana Ross, another Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich after the jump.
Last year at Radio City Music Hall, I saw Gloria Gaynor sing “I Will Survive” and less than 1 year later, I saw another legend sing it: Miss Diana Ross. You can read about the show and see the set list here. It was a night to remember.
