Clarence Clemons

Bruce Springsteen, Clarence Clemons

Wow.  So sad.  Saxophonist Clarence Clemons has passed away from complications of a massive stroke that he suffered last week.  I am very fortunate to have seen him perform live with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.  RIP, Clarence!

Johnny Sheffield. RIP

Johnny Sheffield who played “Boy” on the original “Tarzan” movie series has passed away.  Very sad news.  I’d met Johnny Sheffield on several occasions and though he had moved on from acting, he was always very friendly.  RIP Johnny!

Tony Curtis 1925-2010

More sad news from Hollywood.  Actor Tony Curtis, most famously known for his role in the wonderfully funny movie “Some Like It Hot,” has died.  He was also father to actress Jamie Lee Curtis and was one time married to “Psycho” actress Janet Leigh.  He also appeared on the cover of the Beatles “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”  I used to see Tony Curtis a lot back in my autograph collecting days and he was always really nice.  RIP, Mr. Curtis.

JD Salinger Dies

Author of books such as The Catcher in the Rye and Nine Stories, JD Salinger has died.

The only personal experience I’ve had with Mr. Salinger was about 15 years ago when I’d obtained his home address and I wrote him a letter requesting his autograph.  I received a letter some weeks later saying “Please don’t EVER contact Mr. Salinger at his home.”

Rest in peace, just the same.
