Distillation by Roxy Paine. Now showing at James Cohan Gallery in New York through December 11, 2010

New York museum lovers will probably recall artist Roxy Paine’s insanely cool exhibit “Maelstrom” that was on the roof of the Met last summer.  The artist is back with another really great exhibit called “Distillation,” at the James Cohan Gallery in New York.  The single piece starts at the front door of the gallery and continues all the way through to the back offices.  The word “cool” does not even come close to being the right way to describe this work, so obviously you’ll have to see it with your own eyes.

A partial view of a miniature sculpture of the entire piece.

As luck would have it, I visited “Distillation” on opening night and I met artist Roxy Paine.  He was very nice.  Unfortunately, everyone was clawing for a piece of him so I didn’t get to express how cool I think his work is, so I am saying it now!  Thanks again Mr. Paine.
