According2g would like to wish Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E., a very happy birthday on December 11, 2011. Sheila E.’s music has brought so much joy and happiness to my life! She’s beyond amazing when you see her in concert and above all, she’s a really nice person. She kindly donates her time to so many charitable causes and when you put all those things together, there are few cooler people out there. Her albums “The Glamorous Life,” “Romance 1600,” “Sheila E. (The White Album),” and “Sex Cymbal” have been in high rotation since they were released and many times when I hear these albums, I love them so much, I listen to them many times in a row. Hope you have a wonderful birthday Sheila, and many happy more!

Wishing a very happy birthday to John Densmore, drummer for The Doors. He’s responsible for laying down the beats for some of my favorite songs of all time and I would like to express my gratitude for making my ears so happy

Adrian Young of No Doubt
Happy birthday to No Doubt’s drummer, Adrian Young. In addition to being an OC boy like myself, Adrian friggin’ rocks. As drummer for No Doubt, he is not afraid to get naked on stage as he plays! Thanks for all those great memories throughout the years! No Doubt will be releasing a new studio album and I am hoping it’s good. My faith is shaken a bit because I couldn’t stand Gwen Stefani’s pop collaborations and I also read that they are only recording in between baby feeding times and whenever she can fit the band into her busy schedule. Scheduling creativity lacks the spark of instant creation, but we shall see. Plus, Gwen admitted in an interview that Prince inspired them to write hit songs, so the purity of writing what’s in their heart and letting the world decide does not bode well, but again, I love the band so I am hopeful the album will not suck – but I will not be surprised at all if it does.

Happy birthday to Mick Fleetwood, drummer of my beloved band Fleetwood Mac. Their music has made my life better in so many ways, all I can say is thank you for the great tunes. I’m hoping the rumours (pun definitely intended) prove to be true and the Mac will be back in the studio next year.
Rocker Jeff Beck was also born on this day. Rock and roll is alive!

She Keeps Bees
Hot band alert! Brooklyn rock duo She Keeps Bees hopped across the bridge and played at Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan on May 25, 2011. The band is blues/rock and I loved them! Lead singer Jessica Larrabee is a powerhouse on vocals. In between songs, she’d be telling hilarious stories, or making random banter with the crowd (“who here likes to wear bras?”) and in a fraction of a second, she’d whip right into a song where she belted the hell out of the opening notes! Her voice reminded me a bit of Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, and their music has a White Stripes vibe (possibly because the duo is like an inverse of the band).
Jessica Larrabee of She Keeps Bees
I talked to the group after the show and told them both how amazing I thought they were. Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant were very nice. Jessica advised that the group has a new album coming out in July, 2011, so be sure you get it! I hope when the album is released Jessica Larrabee’s awesome stage presence comes across because she was so watchable, I didn’t want the set to end. You can see pictures of my encounters with these superstars in the making after the jump.
