May the 4th is Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you, get it?!) and for music lovers such as myself, May the 4th was the night of a rare intimate performance by Erik Hassle on the roof top of The Standard Hotel in New York’s East Village.  Erik Hassle comes from Sweden and if you aren’t already a fan, you will be by the end of this article.

This was the backdrop on an extremely rare perfect weather night in New York City on May 4, 2015 as an intimate crowd of less than 100 people gathered to hear Erik Hassle perform an 8 song set that included his new single “No Words.”

As you are about to see and hear, Erik Hassle’s voice is so soulful and his dance moves are infectious.  Rather than trying to describe how awesome Erik Hassle is, just click play and watch his great new song, “No Words.”  I would also like you to pay close attention at the 2:12 mark, when Erik spotted me in the crowd and sang straight into my camera.  It’s epic!!!

The Best Kept Secret In New York: California at Supper

New York!  I have no choice but to spill the beans on the best kept secret in the city.  Every Monday night at Supper in New York’s East Village, you can enjoy fabulous food, great ambiance, a cocktail or two and live music by the band California!  The four-piece band sits at the edge of the bar (as you can see above) and plays indie folk/blues/Americana for the crowd.  Their signature song “Goodbye Chelsea Hotel” gave me chills as everyone at Supper sang along to every word.  The band starts around 10 pm and they play into the wee hours of the night.  You don’t want to miss out on a slice of what vintage New York feels like.

Supper is located at 156 East 2nd Street in Manhattan.

Puppetry of the Penis

Puppetry of the Penis - August 4 - August 20. Tix on sale now!!!

I never thought I’d ever get a chance to teabag Depeche Mode, but here it is.  Puppetry of the Penis is a wonderfully funny and inventive show that is playing from August 4 – August 20 at the 45 Bleecker Street Theater in the East Village of New York.  You’ll see more tricks that you can perform with your penis than you ever thought imaginable.  It’s not hard to get tickets, so quit dicking around and get them! Come to www.telecharge.com and you’ll have a ball!

The stars Rich Binning and Christopher Cannon of Puppetry of the Penis are funny, sexy and of course – fully naked for the entire show!  As you know, we at According2g.com are big fans of nudity!  You’d think at a show like this, photography would make the performers go nuts (yes, ladies and gentlemen, I’ll be here all week!), butt (please tip your waiters!) they didn’t seem to mind.  UPDATE:  I’ve been asked to remove the pictures by the artists in the show, so I hope you enjoyed them while they lasted.  The performers wrote in to tell me that they are having a hard time finding work while there are naked pictures of them on the internet.  I obliged and took the photos down, but let me just suggest that if you are afraid of nude photos leaking out, perhaps it’s not the greatest idea to perform fully naked in a show for months on end – AND invite the audience to take photos.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil

Thumb Hang!

Thumb Hang!

If you haven’t seen Anvil!  The Story of Anvil, I highly recommend it.  It’s a documentary of the heavy metal band Anvil who, despite tough times and virtual obscurity for over 25 years, continue to rock!  This movie is such an inspiration to never give up your dreams, no matter what!  I went to an exclusive screening of the film in the East Village in Manhattan with Gail of the awesome blog www.worleygig.com. We were fortunate to not only see the documentary, but were treated to a live set by the rockers after the movie was over.  If that’s not enough, Chris Martin of the band Coldplay was in attendance and he was gracious enough to pose for a picture with me.  Pix of me with Chris Martin as well as pictures of me with Robb Reiner, Anvil’s drummer and “Lips” Kudlow, Anvil’s lead singer, after the jump.
