Ellen Burstyn and Geoffrey Dicker
I love me some Ellen Burstyn! If you feel the same, you can see her in the flesh on Broadway in a revival of the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Picnic.” All the details are at this link (which will open in a new window). Thanks Ellen for being so nice!

Happy birthday to actress Ellen Burstyn. I love her! She got totally robbed when she lost an Academy Award to Julia Roberts in 2000. Ellen played a delusional speed freak in “Requiem for a Dream,” a performance so powerful, I still think about it to this day. Julia Roberts played the cleavage showing real life figure Erin Brockovich, a performance which was so average that Julia shouldn’t have even been nominated – let alone be the winner! In my eyes Ellen, you will always be the winner! Happy birthday!
Also born today, baseball great Johnny Bench, basketball great Larry Bird and musical greats Harry Chapin and Louis Prima.
