Photos by G. Art by Joseph Arthur.
New York! Make sure you head over to Able Fine Art in Manhattan to see the latest exhibit from singer/songwriter/poet and extremely prolific fine artist Joseph Arthur entitled “Emblematic Truth.” Both Joseph Arthur’s music and art careers are extremely inspiring and his list of accomplishments in both disciplines are very impressive. I highly encourage you to check out Joseph’s online virtual gallery, The Museum of Modern Arthur (MOMAR) if you have not already done so. You’ll be wowed.
The opening night reception for “Emblematic Truth” was epic for so many reasons. First off, being in a room surrounded by Joseph Arthur’s paintings is a treat in and of itself because his work is so inspiring and visually appealing. In the corner of the exhibit, there was a drum kit and guitar (painted by Joseph Arthur) and Joseph surprised everyone in the gallery and performed for all of us!
I chatted with Joseph and was surprised and delighted that he remembered me from previous experiences with him, which is such a thrill because I have so much respect and admiration for him. Funnily enough, he remembered that I am the king of the “selfie,” where I like to take a photo with the artist whenever I find myself in a situation where that is a possibility.
Moments later, one of Joseph’s friends, Michael Stipe (!!!) arrived and Joseph introduced me to him. He mentioned the “selfies” to Michael Stipe who graciously took one with me a few moments later. You can see the “selfies” after the jump.
“Emblematic Truth” by Joseph Arthur is showing at Abel Fine Art Gallery (located at 511 West 25h Street #507) through April 16, 2013. Do not miss it!
In other news, Joseph Arthur will be celebrating the release of his latest album “Ballad of Boogie Christ” with a special show at Bowery Ballroom in New York on June 13, 2013 and tickets go on sale March 29, 2013 at noon. If you’ve never seen Joseph Arthur in concert before, you simply must! See you there!
