Brooklyn’s own Black Gold opened for Rooney at Irving Plaza in New York on July 14, 2010.  Black Gold are an indie rock band that will make you feel guilt free from rockin’ out to their songs.  This was my first exposure to the band and I really liked what I heard.  Eric Ronick got the crowd more than warmed up and he even took time to wish the drummer a happy 21st birthday.  What a way to spend your birthday – playing a sold out gig at the legendary Irving Plaza!  That’s pretty awesome, according2g.  They played songs such as “Breakdown” (which was my favorite song of the evening) and “The Come Down.”  Also featured was a brand new song – that is so new, they admitted they were playing it for the first time live tonight.  Look out for “Heaven Come Back To Me,” it was awesome.  I met lead singer Eric Ronick after the show and he was extremely nice!  Thanks Eric.  Looking forward to hearing more great music from Black Gold.

See more pictures of the band as well as my encounter with the very handsome Eric Ronick after the jump.
