Lady Gaga!

Lady Gaga!

The legendary Roseland Ballroom in New York is closing (to be turned into condominiums) and to send off the venue in style, Lady Gaga is performing 7 shows there.  I caught her 4th show on April 4, 2014 and it was definitely a spectacle, despite being a paltry hour long!  My observations from the show will be coming soon with some pretty spectacular pictures, but to tide you over for now, check out a video of “Born This Way” performed solo with just Gaga and her piano (and of course 3,500 screaming little monsters).

Enjoy!

The setlist was:

Born This Way (acoustic) / Black Jesus – Amen Fashion / Monster / Bad Romance / Sexxx Dreams / Dope / You and I / Poker Face (acoustic) / Just Dance / Applause.

Video: “Land/Gloria” live by Patti Smith at Carnegie Hall

There are some things so epic and wonderful that I cannot keep them to myself.  This is one of those things.  A very rare video of the incomparable Patti Smith performing “Land: Horses/Land of 1,000 Dances/La Mer (De)/Gloria” at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 11, 2014 as part of the Tibet House benefit concert.

This video is reason enough that you should see Patti Smith every chance you get and coming soon, you will see a video of her paying tribute to Lou Reed and it will bring a tear to your eye.  But that’s for another time.  For now, get ready to ROCK with Patti!

The headline above is correct!  On March 11, 2014 at Carnegie Hall in New York, as part of a benefit concert for the Tibet House, a once in a lifetime pairing happened on stage:  Bernard Sumner of New Order and Joy Division with Iggy Pop!  The pair sang Joy Division’s “Transmission” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart” as well as the New Order rarity “Californian Grass.”

Videos of the later two songs have not only been posted on According2g.com, but they’ve gone viral (with “Love Will Tear Us Apart” achieving over 35,000 views in the first 24 hours) and have ended up on nearly every major music publication from NME to Rolling Stone to Spin Magazine, and although those sites merely posted the videos with no credit given to me for taking/posting the video, it’s still a huge honor.

As a result, I’m giving you, my dear readers yet another world exclusive – Iggy Pop and Bernard Sumner of New Order and Joy Division performing “Transmission.”  Websites, if you want to post the video, please give credit where credit is due – not just for me, but across the board and at all times!  Removing the video and keeping it private for me and my readers is as easy as the click of a button.

Videos of Iggy Pop (performing “Nightclubbing” and Patti Smith performing “Perfect Day” by Lou Reed) will be coming soon, so stay tuned!!!!!

Solange Knowles

Solange Knowles

Happy birthday to Beyonce’s much funkier sister, Solange Knowles.  I saw Solange late last year and I really enjoyed her show.  I’m sure that the fact that she’s collaborating with the ultra talented Dev Hynes could have something to do with it, and the EP that he produced for her, “True,” has some truly funky moments.  I recommend you check out “Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work” and “Don’t Let Me Down.”  Happy birthday Solange!

Sea-BGB!

Sea-BGB!

Welcome Summer 2013!  If you live in New York, you simply must experience the Mermaid Day Parade which is held on the first Saturday of each summer in Coney Island.  At the Mermaid Parade, you will see Mermaids, Mermen and all sorts of people lively sea-themed costumes.  New Yorkers love a good parade and this is the best of the bunch.  It seems to be the one time that people of all ages, genders, sizes and shapes get together and express their creativity and freedom and I love it!  Enjoy some pictures from the 2013 Mermaid Day Parade, including King Neptune Judah Friedlander Queen Mermaid Carole Radziwill!  There might be a bit of sea-nudity, so if you easily get offended by such things, you are probably reading the wrong blog (ha!), but please proceed with caution.
