I have loved the work of FAILE for a long time.  When I found out after the fact about a pop-up exhibit called Deluxx-Fluxx that took place earlier this year, I was really devastated.  Check out these pictures and you’ll feel the same. “Bedtime Stories” at Perry Rubenstein Gallery is the first full length exhibit of FAILE’s work that I’ve ever seen and it’s so cool!  FAILE uses acrylic and silkscreen ink on wood and the detail in every work is great.  There are so many subliminal messages, subversive images and trippy patterns that you’ll want to stare at each work for hours.

In the center of the gallery is the FAILE Tower which has to be seen to be believed.  Like the rest of the works comprising the exhibit, the tower is made of blocks and when you think of how much work and detail has gone into each wood block, you will be wowed.  As you can see in the below picture, this is an extreme closeup of one small section of the FAILE Tower.  Don’t forget the tower is covered from ceiling to floor on four sides!

I attended the opening and I was able to congratulate FAILE on a wonderful exhibit.  “Bedtime Stories” runs through December 23, 2010 so make sure you see it!  Perry Rubenstein Gallery is located at 527 West 23rd Street in New York.
