The Courteeners - Falcon (out March 23, 2010 in the US. Out now in the UK)

Manchester, England-based band The Courteeners have released their second album “Falcon” in the UK.  The stateside release is scheduled for March 23, 2010.  Their music is sort of an amalgam of Blur, The Smiths and Oasis.  I saw them open for Morrissey twice last year and I really enjoyed what I heard.  They sold autographed copies of their debut album “St. Jude” for the bargain price of $10 at the show and I snatched one up.  “St. Jude” is very uptempo and was a great representation of their live act.  “Falcon,” while still rockin’ is much more mellow than their first album.  For me, the highlights of “Falcon” are the uptempo rockers “Scratch Your Name Upon My Lips” and “You Overdid It Doll.”  If I had to rate this album on a scale of A to G, I’d give it a solid B.
