Jerry Saltz, delicious Tortilla Soupand G

Who says Twitter is completely useless?  The other day when checking my feed, I saw a tweet from art critic Jerry Saltz that he’d be at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise forRirkrit Tiravanija’s 3 part exhibit (“Fear Eats the Soul,” “Tshirtnotshirt.com” and “Soupnosoup.com and he invited his followers to come join him for lunch.  Did you really think I was going to pass up a chance to meet a 3 time Pulitzer Prize nominee who is the encyclopedia of art critique and knowledge?  Not a chance!

The T-shirts being made featured slogans such as: “Less Oil More Courage,” “Free China From Tibet,” “Bring On The Lobsters,” and “Rich Bastards Beware.”  Genius, according2g.

The final part of the exhibit was in the legendary kitchen at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise.  “Soupnosoup.com” featured some of the best Tortilla Soup I’ve ever consumed for the bargain price of $1 (just to cover expenses).

As my friend and I ordered our Tortilla Soup, Jerry Saltz asked if he could join us.  What an incredible experience!  I found it hard to converse about serious topics when the food we were eating was so delicious, but I got the chance to tell him what a big fan I am and he was extremely nice.  Thanks again Jerry!

“Fear Eats The Soul,” “Tshirtnotshirt.com” and “Soupnosoup.com” by Rirkrit Tiravanija are showing at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in New York through April 16, 2011.  Gavin Brown’s Enterprise is located at 620 Greenwich Street in Manhattan.  Don’t miss it (and bring an empty stomach when you come visit).  You can follow Jerry Saltz on Twitter @jerrysaltz and According2g @according2g.
