Despite it being one of the coldest days in recent memory, when I met Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips today, he couldn’t have been nicer.  I typically try and keep it together when I am around the rich and fabulous, but I couldn’t help myself and I gushed to Wayne Coyne how much I enjoyed seeing his show last year (which out of over 200 bands that I saw last year was my favorite concert of 2010).  He was really humble and was so extremely nice.  In addition to taking this amazing photo with me, he signed some CD covers for me as well as a photo I took from The Flaming Lips’ show last year.  He even commented on what a cool photo it was.  Wow! Thanks again so much Wayne for being so great in every way!  If you’ve never seen a Flaming Lips show, I cannot recommend it strongly enough. It’ll blow your mind!

Do you realize??  January 13, 2011 is Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips’ 50th birthday!  Happy birthday, Wayne.  It’s been over 6 months since I saw the Flaming Lips in concert for the first time and I am STILL not over it yet.  Not only was it the best show I saw of 2010, but it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my entire life!  There was so much visual stimulation at the concert, at times, I lost track of where I was!  There was so much confetti that came down from the ceiling that I swear, every time I go to that venue, you still see residual confetti from that show.  In addition to great music and out of this world visuals, Wayne Coyne’s message was so great.  He talked so much about the realities of world peace if people can just get their acts together and start loving instead of hating!  Bravo, Wayne!  I cannot wait for the next time The Flaming Lips come to town, and take my word for it, you’re a FOOL if you miss them next time they come around.

I estimate that I saw over 200 bands in 2010.  Picking out the top 10 shows that really blew me away was a really hard task because I was privileged to see so much great music.  Believe me, there were way more than 10 shows that knocked my socks off, but for purposes of a top ten list, these are my picks.  Please believe me that if any of these bands come to your town, I cannot recommend highly enough that you go see them!
