So excited about this. The UK 5-some Foals have announced a US tour scheduled for Spring 2011. I saw them at a pretty small venue last year and the show was INSANE! The crowd was so into it and I knew that they next time they came around, they’d be playing in much bigger venues. That is indeed the case.

Ever since I saw Foals the other night, I’ve really been digging their music. If you don’t know their music, here’s a nice taster. You are about to see “Olympic Airways” live at Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 2, 2010. This was only the second song in the set, but I assure you, by the end of the night, everyone was gettin’ loose, including lead singer Yannis Philippakis who stage dove several times. It was awesome!!!
I loved seeing Foals. The UK dance-punk band put on a really great show. I was equally excited to meet lead singer Yannis Philippakis. I went backstage after the show was over and Yannis was totally cool. When I asked for a picture, he happily obliged. I didn’t have my flash on and the initial picture came out interesting. We are both bathed in blue light. I turned my flash on and took the picture you see above. Thanks again Yannis. Based on how the crowd reacted to the show, I think Foals are going to be huge stars. Their music is anthem-ready and I wish them great success.
On October 2, 2010, the UK dance-punk band Foals played a sold out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. It was my first exposure to their music and I loved it! I luckily trusted my gut instinct tonight and decided not to stand in the front row and I am so glad I listened to my inner voice. The energy of the crowd was so intense, a mosh pit, crowd surfing, body slamming and stage divining occurred during almost every song. It looked great from a far and I am so glad I wasn’t in the middle of it! Lead singer Yannis Philippakis was all over the place. He sang, played guitar, jumped up on the speakers, played drums and even stage dove. It was pretty awesome.
I received a request to take a video of “Spanish Sahara” and I am pleased to report that video of the track will be coming soon – so stay tuned. The final two songs were really great as both the crowd and the band just lost control and really turned the Music Hall of Williamsburg out. During the last song “Two Steps, Twice,” half of the crowd was dancing on stage and Yannis walked through the crowd and played guitar before getting back on stage and taking one final dive into the audience. It was a really fun show. I met Yannis backstage and a photo of that encounter will also be coming soon.
See another picture of the Jewish and Greek God Yannis as well as the set list after the jump.
