Pink! I love her F-U attitude so much that I decided to see her in concert. So did a lot of fat bottomed girls and gay men, but that’s besides the point. Pink did not disappoint and in fact, she makes you realize what a specatacle concert should be (are you listening pop tarts)? She sings, she dances, she plays guitar (but not too much – she knows she’s not Jimmy Page), she bumps and grinds on a bed (but in a hot way, not in an I’m over 50 and still have a good body way), she sings covers (and very well, I might add) and she had a really elaborate circus set that included slides, singing whilst suspended from a trapeze, playing hit after hit and giving the audience their money’s worth.
Before the show was over, she sang her smash hits “U + Ur Hand,” “Just Like A Pill,” “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” “Funhouse,” “Get The Party Started,” and she performed the anti-Bush song “Dear Mr. President.” Madison Square Garden erupted in thunderous applause after that song and she pointed out that she was booed in Virginia and Anaheim, California after playing it in those cities.
Finally, if all of the above things weren’t enough, she performed amazing covers of the Divinyl’s “I Touch Myself,” AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell,” Led Zeppelin’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You,” Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” She picked pretty tough songs to master, but she had full control of them and hearing the whole of Madison Square Garden singing along to these songs was definitely a moment that makes one realize, this is what concerts are for.
