Grace Jones
Ladies and gentlemen… Miss Grace Jones. Grace Jones celebrates her 63rd birthday today and we wish her a very happy one. I wouldn’t have thought it at the time, but her concert a couple of years ago was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. The crowd went absolutely nuts, everyone was decked out in crazy outfits, but none as crazy as Grace Jones’. In fact, she changed outfits after each song – with each succeeding outfit being more outrageous than the one before it. Shameless plug: you can purchase a limited edition print of Grace Jones, taken by yours truly on Ignite Licensing’s official website. If you are not in the mood for this print, don’t worry, there’s plenty of other great art at very affordable prices.
Also born today: Malcolm X, The Who’s Pete Townsend, the Ramones’ Joey Ramone and wrestler turned street art legend Andre The Giant. Obey!

Johnny Rozsa at Christopher Henry Gallery in NYC. Now showing through November 28, 2010
There’s no doubt that Johnny Rozsa is a photography legend. He’s taken iconic photos of everyone from Leigh Bowery to Sade to Carmen Electra. In tandem with his latest monograph Untouched, the Christopher Henry Gallery in New York has a must see exhibit of Rozsa’s work. On display are fantastic photos of Boy George, Grace Jones, Robert Mitchum, The Jacksons, Rick James and Leigh Bowery, just to name a few. Rozsa’s photos are from a pre-Photoshop era and the exhibit collects intimate and iconic moments from some of the world’s best loved stars. I attended the gala opening reception and it was quite a scene. I spoke with Johnny Rozsa and he was extremely nice. He even showed me the work-in-progress prototype which inspired Untouched!

In other fantastic news, the “Knitting is for Pu****” exhibit by Olek, which I’ve raved about numerous times before, has been extended due to overwhelming demand! A studio apartment has been built inside the gallery and Olek has crocheted over every single item inside the apartment! It’s one of the most unique exhibits I’ve seen in a really long time and everyone that sees it is blown away by how cool it is. ”Knitting is for Pus****” has been extended until November 17, 2010, so make sure you go see this!

It gets better. In addition to two wonderful exhibits, one of my favorite artists, Scooter LaForge has designed a very limited edition T-shirt commemorating the Johnny Rozsa exhibit. There are two designs available and below, you can see the shirt I’ll be sporting on future adventures. These shirts can be purchased at the Christopher Henry Gallery located at 127 Elizabeth Street in Manhattan while supplies last.
