I just love drag legend Hedda Lettuce.  Not only is she totally hilarious, but she is also extremely nice.  You’ve probably seen her in To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar; Sex in the City or Project Runway.  Every Thursday at the Clearview Cinemas in Chelsea, she hosts a classic film, which is shown in full glory on the big screen.  In past weeks I’ve attended screenings of Clash of The Titans (the real version, not the awful remake), The Birds, Blazing Saddles, George Michael – Live In London and last night, 9 to 5.  Coming up, they will be showing Xanadu, The Best Lil Whorehouse in Texas and Mommie Dearest, just to name a few. Hedda warms up the crowd, gives away prizes and makes everyone laugh until the mascara runs down our faces. She’s appearing at the Laurie Beechman Theater on May 2 and May 9 doing solo shows, which I highly recommend if you are in the area.  Thanks again Hedda for making me eat my greens!

Here’s another photo of Hedda and myself.  When I took the above photo with my hand, I cut off Hedda’s amazing cleavage and Dolly Parton wig, so here they both are in all their glory!

At the Chelsea Cinema, located on 23rd Street and 8th Avenue,  every Thursday night in New York City, legendary drag queen Hedda Lettuce hosts classic movie night.  I saw Clash of the Titans last night and it was as great seeing it on the big screen as it was when I was a kid.  Hedda Lettuce gets the crowd ready with witty jokes and contests where you can win value-less prizes. It’s so much fun.  Hedda interjects a little bit of comedy during the movie as well so you’ll definitely walk out with a smile on your face.

The schedule for the month of October is:

October 1 – Dressed to Kill

October 8 – Carrie

October 15 – The Birds
