The C24 Gallery in New York has an interesting summer group show (yes, I realize those two phrases are mutually exclusive) at the moment called “Yell-o.” It features 4 artists and here’s a bit about each one. Nick Gentry from the UK (see above and below for a close up) uses old hard disks as a canvas.
American artist Adele Mills creates multi-dimensional artworks by combining slightly different photographs of the same object or two entirely different illusions, resulting in changing, seemingly moving image. She achieves this visual effect by creating a layered visual – a digitally printed photograph based on paper or linen, merged with painted acrylics on layers of transparent silk.
Ekaterina Panikanova from Russia paints across large spreads of old books and other documents mounted on wood.
Last but not least,
American artist J. Mikal Davis, who is also known as Hellbent in the world of street art, paints geometric patterns that give his works a very cool 3-D effect.
If any of these works appeal to you, there are plenty more at the C24 Gallery, which is located at 514 West 24th Street in Manhattan. “Yell-o” is on display through August 23, 2014.
