I am not a TV watcher so I’ve never seen the Colbert Report, but I had my first experience seeing it in person with special musical guests, and one of my favorite bands, Radiohead! Wow! Lucky me. Like most TV show tapings, there’s a lot of sitting around and waiting, but Stephen Colbert is a pro. He is such a natural born talk show host. He’s funny, has a sharp tongue and a quick wit. The audience was treated to a special hour long episode where we got to see two interview segments and 6 songs in total! The interview segments were very funny and Colbert caught the band off guard with some of the wacky things he asked. The songs played were “The Daily Mail,” which has not been released yet, “The National Anthem,” and 4 tracks off their latest album “The King of Limbs” – “Good Morning Mr. Magpie,” “Little By Little,” “Codex” and “Bloom.” To ensure the sound was right, the band played a couple minutes of each song during the commercial break before playing the songs in their entirety, so it was extremely cool watching the band rehearse in front of an audience. Thom Yorke was in a great mood and he sounded flawless. I’m sure for the non-TV watchers, you’ll find videos on the internet soon enough and I recommend you check them out if you like Radiohead. You won’t be disappointed. When the taping was over, I saw Thom Yorke leaving the building and I was able to get one of my favorite albums of all time signed – “In Rainbows.” It will take me a long time to get over such an overall great experience. Obviously you were not allowed to take pictures so I used restraint. However, I took a picture I posted the set list because I know die hard Radiohead fans might want to see it. I blocked out any info for the upcoming episodes so I don’t spoil it for people that enjoy the element of surprise when they watch TV. Thanks to @zaffi for the hookup! Appreciate it brother!
