Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters

Just when I think it’s not possible to love Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters any more than I already do, he does things like this.  The openly gay singer has released a video in response to the senseless gay hate crimes that have been spreading like an epidemic in the last month.  Jake talks very openly about some of the torture he endured as a kid, and believe me, I don’t think any gay/queer/transgendered/ free thinking person has not gone through some sort of abuse by closed-minded (and probably jealous) assholes who hate to see other people happy.  The term “gay” doesn’t mean “happy” for nothing.  Fuck all the people that want to see you unhappy.  One thing I love about Oprah Winfrey is that rather than using the fact that she was abused as a child as an excuse why she couldn’t succeed, she actually used that as a reason to succeed.  This is no different. Succeed in life because you are gay.  Fuck the naysayers!!!

I really hope you’ll watch the video and spread the word to the masses, but if you don’t, here’s some of the highlights:

– No matter how hard your life feels currently – it gets better.

– It’s ok to be different.  (In fact, it’s actually better)

– You can turn your rage into something positive.

– Anyone that tells you that you don’t deserve a life as good as a “straight” person, those people are CRAZY!

Kudos to you Jake for helping to spread a positive message in a time of turmoil!

Again, please watch Jake Shears’ video which can be seen here.
