The Scissor Sisters know how to throw a dance party! On February 4, 2011, Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, two of our beloved Scissor Sisters, were doing a very rare DJ set at the Museum of Natural History in New York. It was a super fun night watching Jake and Ana shake their groove things on stage while the entire museum danced our asses off. Every song they played was thumping and it was definitely a great way to see my friend BB3 usher in his birthday (and have a very happy birthday BB3)! One of the songs we were treated to was a mashup of the Scissor Sisters’ “Invisible Light” mashed up with Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.” The video you are about to see is admittedly not the greatest, but where else are you going to hear this great remix? The answer of course is According2g.com. Check in daily for the very best of the music and art scene in New York!
On stage: Jake Shears, Ana Matronic and DJ Sammy Jo. Get ready to throw yourself a silent rave!
I can’t think of a better way to cure the wintertime blues than by seeing Jake Shears and Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters do a DJ set at the Museum of Natural History in New York! Jake and Ana have great taste in music and before the night was over, we heard songs by The KLF, My Life With Thrill Kill Kult, Nitzer Ebb, a snippet of a new Scissor Sisters song and a mash-up of the Scissors own “Invisible Light” over the music of Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”!!! Wow! Jake and Ana danced on stage the entire night and once the set was over, chatted with fans! They are such a class act, all I can say is – respect!
Museum of Natural History
Aside from the fact that Scissor Sisters (with Sammy Jo) were in the house spinning great dance music with an irresistible dance beat all night long, the vibe at the Museum of Natural History is so cool. You get to hang out in a selected section of the museum, are treated to trippy projected visuals on a screen and there’s a bar at the museum! It’s not very often you can say that you attended a dance party thrown by Scissor Sisters inside the Museum of Natural History, but I am excited to say – I have!
New York! Save the date for an event you won’t want to miss! Scissor Sisters are doing a very rare DJ set at the Museum of Natural History’s Friday night party “One Step Beyond” on February 4, 2011.
