Jim Morrison
Words cannot express how much Jim Morrison’s words and music have influenced my life. Just know that this moment would not be possible without the guidance and wisdom of Jim Morrison, poet and lead singer of the rock group The Doors. Jim turns 68 today and though he has spent 40 of those years in another existence, he is more alive to me than most people walking around on this planet. All I can say is thanks for everything Jim (past, present and future) and hope you have a wonderful birthday!

The Puffer by Fumero
Street artist Fumero took the art world by storm last year when his iconic “Table Series Logo” was featured in the packaging of the DVD “Exit Through The Gift Shop.” Proving he is not a 1 trick pony, Fumero’s first solo show “Fumeroism” at Phantom Audio in New York has been a major success. Fumero’s caricature-like figurative paintings are distinctive and the artist calls his style “Fumeroism.” He’s paid tribute to some of the greats in this exhibit including Notorious BIG, Bob Marley, Jim Morrison and Gandhi.

Over 20 works are on display including variations on “the Table Series Logo,” as well as paintings from his “Grandpa” series which has been seen all over the streets of New York. You’ll recognize many of the subjects in his paintings, but the interpretations of these figures belong solely to Fumero. I especially love the shadows that are not represented in black, but instead with vivid colors. The future is looking very bright for Fumero. Been Down So Long / Looks Like Up To Me
Whoa! You have no idea how much I enjoyed seeing lyrics from The Doors’ “Been Down So Long,” on a security gate on Bowery last night!
I have one small complaint. The lyrics are actually “I’ve been down so goddamned long that it looks like up to me.”
Still, the artist gets an A for effort and many thanks for the smile you brought to my face.
