One Day This Will All Be Yours by Michael Kagan

One Day This Will All Be Yours by Michael Kagan

Head over to Joshua Liner Gallery in New York to see the first solo exhibition of large scale works by Michael Kagan.  Kagan’s art was featured on the cover of White Lies’ fantastic album “Big TV” (see #3 in my top albums of 2013 list).  The painting pictured about measures 60 x 80 inches and I’m including two close up shots (that still don’t do justice in comparison to seeing these works in person) to help give you an idea of the brush strokes and detail in Kagan’s art.

You have until May 3, 2014 to see this exhibit, so take my advice and go see it!

Riusuke Fukahori - The Painted Breath

Riusuke Fukahori – The Painted Breath

Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori loves goldfish.  They are the focal point of his debut New York exhibit “The Painted Breath” at Joshua Liner Gallery.  When you first look at his works, you might think – “oh, it’s a goldfish” and scratch your head as to the deeper significance.  But then you discover that despite looking like sculptures, the fish are made entirely out of resin, you will wonder how he did it.

Riusuke Fukahori

To paint the goldfish as realistically as possible, he pours a layer of resin, lets it dry, then paints a small portion of the fish, lets it dry, then pours another layer of resin—patiently repeating these steps until the final product is a three-dimensional representation of a goldfish.  WOW!

When you see these works of art in person, you will really be blown away, so don’t just take my word for it.  See “The Painted Breath” by Riusuke Fukahori in person at Joshua Liner Gallery (located at 540 West 28th Street) in Manhattan.  The exhibit is up through January 18, 2014.

Kris Kuksi - Revival

Kris Kuksi – Revival

If you’ve never seen Kris Kuksi’s work in person, you are doing your eyes and soul a great disservice.  His works are nearly impossible to photograph as there are hundreds, if not thousands, of miniature characters, structures and stories within stories that your brain will create as you look at his extremely intricate sculptures.  His latest exhibit “Revival” at Joshua Liner Gallery in Manhattan is no exception.

Even the detail photos can’t capture the epic quality of these sculptures.  There’s really not much more I can say other than, you need to see these works of art with your own eyes!
