Dan Armbruster of Joywave

On Valentine’s Day, 2011, Greek indie-pop band Joywave opened for Carney at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. 3 of the band’s 5 members were formerly in a group called Hoodies.  Lead singer Dan Armbruster’s voice reminded me of a nice blend of The Killers, MGMT and Scissor Sisters. As each song in their 45 minute set progressed, Armbruster’s stage presence became more and more intense.  The band thanked us for spending Valentine’s Day with them and before the set was over, the audience pledged to be Joywave’s valentine.  You can check out Joywave’s music on their Myspace page and for signing up on their mailing list, you can download their single “Golden State” for free!  I’m loving it and I hope you do too!

I met lead singer Dan Armbruster after Joywave’s set and he was totally nice.  I wished him the best and he thanked me for my support. See a picture of that encounter after the jump.
