Alec Monopoly is killing it!  His art is up all over the world, he currently has an exhibit at Lab Art on La Brea where his works fill up the ENTIRE gallery, which as you know is massive, and is all over the  streets of Los Angeles with huge pieces.

I’ve been writing about Lab Art in Los Angeles since they opened their doors and because I live in New York, I always miss their openings.  The stars aligned and I was finally able to attend my first Lab Art opening and it was a big one:  Alec Monopoly’s first solo show in Los Angeles!

Alec Monopoly’s art has taken him all over the world (I know first hand because I’ve seen it in several countries) and it was really cool to be a part of such a big night for Alec.  If you’ve never been to Lab Art, you should really fix that right away because the space and gallerists are very cool.  If you’ve been to Lab Art, you’ll appreciate how impressive it is that the entire gallery was filled from ceiling to floor with Alec Monopoly’s work.

Monopoly!

The Monopoly man, Richie Rich, Jack Nicholson, Bob Marley, Twiggy, Basquiat, Madonna and Bob Dylan are all represented in Alec’s art in every size and variation (and the back room also featured black light canvases), plus not one but TWO cars were in the gallery, decorated with Alec’s art.

The exhibit has something for everyone, whether you like street art or seeing interpretations of famous icons and if you are in the LA area, you should not miss this!

Los Angeles!

Get ready for a very special night!  Alec Monopoly’s first solo show in Los Angeles will be opening at Lab Art on March 14, 2013.  Alec’s had shows all over the world including “Alec Pass Go,” his first show in New York and you know that he will do it up right for his LA solo debut.  Coupled with the fact that Lab Art is one of the coolest galleries in the United States, this is going to be a night you will not want to miss.  There’s a good chance you’ll see me at the opening, so make sure you give me some Los Angeles love!

RSVP to info@labartgallery.com and save this date:

March 14, 2013 from 7 – 10 pm.

Lab Art is located at 217 South La Brea in Los Angeles.

I’m refraining from all Monopoly related puns in this space (you’re welcome), so just make sure you attend!  :)

Los Angeles!  Make sure you pop into Lab Art before December 8, 2012 so you can catch the final days of “Abandon All Hope” featuring the art of Destroy All Design and Septerhed.  As I live in New York, I was lucky enough to see the exhibit on a quick LA getaway trip for me.

In addition to the art of Septerhed and Destroy All Design, you will see great street art by some of the most famous names in the game and it’s always a treat to speak with Iskander and Rachel at the gallery.

Tell them G sent ya!

Lab Art is located at 217 South La Brea in Los Angeles and “Abandon All Hope” runs through December 8, 2012.
