Las Adelitas by Sylvia Ji now showing at the Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC through August 7, 2010.

Los Angeles based artist Sylvia Ji debuted her latest solo show “Las Adelitas” at the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York on July 10, 2010 and I loved it!  Sylvia Ji’s art depicts warriors of moral and sexual ambiguity.  I felt that I could stare at each painting for hours because as I looked at her work my mind was taken on a journey of darkness beyond the light and back as I imagined the stories these figures would tell if only they could speak.  The exhibit gets its name from the female soldiers who fought along side the men in the Mexican Revolution and who were immortalized in folk songs (La Adelita).  During the gala opening, I met the artist and she was extremely gracious.  See a picture of my encounter with Sylvia Ji as well as a couple more images from this amazing exhibit after the jump.  Thanks Sylvia for being really nice and for creating really great art!

“Las Adelitas” by Sylvia Ji runs through August 7, 2010 at the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York which is located at 548 West 28th Street, 3rd Floor.  Don’t miss it!
