Joan Jett and Geoffrey Dicker

Joan Jett and Geoffrey Dicker

On a night that will live on in G history for quite a long time, I met one of the queens of rock and roll, Joan Jett!  Joan attended the New York premiere of Led Zeppelin’s concert film “Celebration Day.”  Joan Jett, looking totally rock and roll, was extremely nice!  I love her!  Her music has never stopped rockin’ and she was super friendly.  Love that!  Now THAT is what I call rock and roll!  Thanks again Joan!

Led Zeppelin Attend NYC Premiere of “Celebration Day”

Led Zeppelin’s “Celebration Day” – One Night Only at the Ziegfeld in NYC.

You’d think after meeting Morrissey, my night would not get any better (or hell, the decade for that matter), but it did.  Thanks to a tip (much obliged, Joe!) I found out that Led Zeppelin was in New York to attend the premiere of their concert film “Celebration Day” at the Ziegfeld Theatre, which is footage of their one off 2007 reunion gig.  Knowing (and I was right) that the band would be utterly mobbed, I still decided to stick around to see them in person because how often do you get to see Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones in the same place at the same time?  Not very often!  Unfortunately, all the members of Led Zeppelin were surrounded by bodyguards and ran straight to their cars, so these are possibly the worst quality photos I’ve ever posted, but what can ya do?

Also spotted at the premiere were artist Jeff Koons, Paul Stanley from Kiss, Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks.  Whoa!  What a night!

Robert Plant

Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin

A few days ago, Led Zeppelin started posting a count down which led to internet speculation about what it could all mean.  The bad news is, the band is not getting back together.  The good news is, a DVD is being released of the last time the band got together (sans John Bonham, since he is dead).  The show took place in 2007 at London’s O2 Arena as a tribute to Ahmet Ertegan, who signed Led Zeppelin.

The set will be released on November 19, 2012 (and will also show in cinemas on October 17, 2012) and will feature the following songs:

‘Good Times Bad Times’
‘Ramble On’
‘Black Dog’
‘In My Time Of Dying’
‘For Your Life’
‘Trampled Under Foot’
‘Nobody’s Fault But Mine’
‘No Quarter’
‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’
‘Dazed And Confused’
‘Stairway To Heaven’
‘The Song Remains The Same’
‘Misty Mountain Hop’
‘Kashmir’
‘Whole Lotta Love’
‘Rock And Roll’

Happy Birthday, Robert Plant

Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin is a god to me.  The fact that I was able to stand in the front row and watch him perform for 2 hours is something that I will never get over.  There are of course so many great songs to listen to today, but topping my list will be “The Crunge,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Achilles Last Stand,” “Since I’ve Been Loving You” and “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.”  What are your favorite Led Zeppelin songs?  Feel free to ramble on in the comments section.  Happy birthday, Robert!
